Hi, my name is Laura and I am an illustrator and painter living in Kent, drawing inspiration from many different sources. I love painting in the countryside, and exploring beautiful landscapes such as the South Downs and the New Forest - and further afield including Turkey and North Africa. I also sketch and paint on location, especially in London around Southwark, Bermondsey, Wapping and Greenwich; areas full of tall, atmospheric warehouses, old wharfs and hidden streets.

I am fascinated by archaeology and history and enjoy reconstructing and interpreting sites and artefacts. In 2011 I completed an MA course in archaeological illustration at Swindon College with distinction. I studied the remains of a deserted medieval village and tried to bring back to life some of the vibrant characters who would have lived there. My final year project was to create an app and website exploring Iron Age life at Butser Ancient Farm. More recently I have illustrated some interpretation boards for them exploring their new Neolithic and Anglo-Saxon areas. I have also supplied some Roman reconstructions for Lee Rotherham’s The Discerning Barbarian’s Guidebook to Roman Britain - People to meet and places to plunder.
